*Angiogenic siRNA (for intermittent claudication, obstructive arteriosclerosis, and cardiac infarctions)
We are developing siRNA drugs targeting a control factor for HIF (hypoxia-inducible factor), which is one of the main factors involved in angiogenesis. We have found that siRNA can promote angiogenesis by inducing expression of several angiogenic factors simultaneously by preventing breakdown of HIF inside the cell. It is therefore expected that delivery of siRNA to disease-affected sites can efficiently induce angiogenesis, leading to a breakthrough in treatment for obstructive arteriosclerosis.

*siRNA for treatment of viral infection (Hepatitis C virus)
Because siRNA drugs for viral infection target foreign (non-human) gene sequences, they are expected to yield potent treatments with minimal adverse reactions. We are currently developIng an siRNA therapy for the Hepatitis C virus, taking advantage of the fact that hepatic site-specific drug delivery is considered relatively simple.

*siRNA for cancer treatment (bladder cancer)
We are developing an siRNA treatment targeting genes specifically expressed in bladder cancer. We are also studying methods for efficient delivery of siRNA to bladder cancer tissue.

*siRNA for bone fracture treatment (osteoporosis)
Finding a way to promote angiogenesis at bone fracture sites could dramatically improve treatment, which is why we are studying use of angiogenic siRNA concomitantly with traditional fracture treatments.
